Strength

Strength … It is expressed in many ways…

Sometimes it is part of the form, part of the design… A tree needs strength to reach for the sun, so it has a strong trunk, a strong base.

However, the most impressive strength sometimes comes from places not expected, from forms not designed, not intended to provide strength.

We all have a strength inside us that comes from somewhere not expected, something that only shows itself when faced with no other choice. Sometimes circumstances put us in this situation, sometimes we can guide ourselves to find this strength.

We can grow and emerge from the strength from deep within, down below.

  1. Richard,

This is a profound and beautifully crafted piece of work.

I have learned in recent years that things are often not what we have been taught to believe, that they are often directly opposed to conventional wisdom. “Strength” is a powerful example. “The soft overcomes the hard.” Strength is quiet, centered existence- not noisy, aggressive posturing.

You have expressed this so well here.

    Thank you.

    • Thank you Tom, sometimes what appears to be strength is simply fear acting violent and sometimes what appears to be cowardice takes tremendous strength. I am glad you liked this post.

  2. You used the Tree as a great analogy, what lies beneath is our roots, sometimes we have to dig deep into ourselves to pull up that inner well of strength.. Self belief …..as we draw up our confidence…. wonderful post my friend
